ED Paint
ED coating (Electro-Deposition coating) is a sophisticated surface treatment technology in which Electro-Deposition Paint is deposited onto a component through an electric current, forming a uniform, tightly adhered film. This process delivers consistent corrosion protection across complex geometries, deep cavities, and otherwise inaccessible surfaces where conventional coating methods fall short.
ED coating (Electro-Deposition coating) applies Electro-Deposition Paint by passing an electric current through a paint bath, driving uniform film deposition onto the entire surface of a component — including complex geometries, internal cavities, and hard-to-reach areas. The result is outstanding adhesion and reliable, consistent corrosion protection.
A standard ED paint layer typically ranges from 20–35 µm in thickness, forming a dense barrier that seals the substrate against moisture, dirt, and corrosive agents. Unlike sacrificial metallic coatings, ED paint protects purely through isolation — making it an excellent primer ahead of powder coating or a capable standalone black topcoat in less demanding environments. As epoxy-based ED paint is sensitive to UV exposure, an overcoat is recommended for outdoor applications.
Optimal performance begins with proper pre-treatment. We employ a modern, chromium-free, silane-based pre-treatment technology as a replacement for conventional phosphating. This approach delivers a superior adhesion base for ED paint, while offering enhanced corrosion resistance and improved environmental compatibility over traditional methods.
Key advantages of ED paint:
- High corrosion resistance even at thin film thicknesses.
- Uniform coverage across complex geometries and hard-to-reach areas.
- Excellent adhesion for subsequent coatings, including powder coating.
- Compatibility with multiple substrates, such as steel and aluminum.
- Strong chemical resistance against a wide range of substances.
