Understanding the 5 Common Types and Their Technologies
Strictly speaking, a "spray booth" is more accurately called a "spray and bake booth." It provides a controlled, enclosed, clean environment with consistent temperatures for painting and finishing workpieces. Based on the method of paint mist treatment, spray booths are generally categorized into Dry and Wet types. Wet spray booths are further divided into Water Curtain, Pumpless Water Curtain, and Water Wash (Venturi) types.
Here are the five most common types of spray booths used in the industry today:
1. Dry Spray Booth

The Dry Spray Booth is recognized as one of the most technologically mature solutions. It addresses the issues found in older models, such as severe work zone pollution, poor filtration, and safety risks.
• Key Advantages: Advanced design, high filtration efficiency, stable performance, high structural rigidity, and shadowless lighting. It is an eco-friendly choice that meets modern environmental standards.
2. Water Curtain Spray Booth

This is a wet-treatment system featuring an overflow weir and a water curtain plate at the front, with multi-stage water curtain filters at the rear.
• Mechanism: During operation, paint mist first hits the continuous water curtain and is washed into the water tank. Any remaining particles are intercepted by the multi-stage filters as the air passes through.
3. Pumpless Water Curtain Spray Booth

This system uses air induction to lift water and form a circulating curtain, eliminating the need for a mechanical pump.
• Mechanism: Paint-laden air impacts the water curtain and enters a gas-water channel where it mixes intensely with water. As it reaches the collection chamber, the airflow slows down, allowing water and air to separate.
• Maintenance: Special flocculants are added to the water to de-tackify the paint mist, causing it to clump into slag for easy cleaning.
4. Water Wash (Venturi) Spray Booth
Designed for medium-to-large workpieces, this booth utilizes a "top-down" airflow (down-draft) system.
• Mechanism: Water acts as the scrubbing medium. The paint mist is forced downward and mixed thoroughly with water in the capture device located beneath the floor. It is highly scalable and ideal for high-end finishing on large industrial components.
5. Cyclone Tower Spray Booth

Utilizing unique airflow rotation technology, the Cyclone Booth is a high-efficiency solution for modern manufacturing.
• Mechanism: As high-pressure nozzles atomize the coating, the booth generates a high-speed rotating vortex. This cyclone captures paint particles (even fine oil-based mists) and guides them along a preset path toward the filtration zone.
• Efficiency: The capture rate can exceed 90%. In industries like furniture manufacturing, Cyclone booths significantly improve workshop air quality and ensure compliance with strict environmental regulations.
